Olympique de Marseille Secures Precious Victory in Germany; Génésio Praises Team Discipline and Return to the Right Track

French club Olympique de Marseille successfully kick-started its European campaign with a valuable away victory over German hosts Bayer Leverkusen, in a clash decided by a standout goal scored by Gouiri, sparking excitement among the team's fans and French football enthusiasts in general.

Praise for Discipline and Match Control

In the post-match press conference, coach Génésio expressed great joy and pride in his players' performance, stating: "I am proud and happy to see my team assert itself here in Germany, where the task is never easy at all. My greatest satisfaction lies in the players' commitment to the tactical plan we established; when things unfold exactly as planned, it brings immense satisfaction to the coaching staff and the entire team."

Qualification Calculations and Continued Caution

Addressing whether this match serves as definitive proof of Marseille's progress, Génésio commented cautiously: "I don't know if it's complete proof, but we have managed to shift the negative dynamic, and we still have a lot of work ahead of us. Mathematically, this victory firmly puts us back in contention; we still have four matches remaining, including three at home, which gives us every opportunity to finish the phase among the top 24 teams."

He added, urging against excessive optimism: "Tonight, I also want to temper the enthusiasm; I know very well that there are shortcomings that have not yet been fully resolved, but it is truly delightful to regain a team that possesses such a high degree of control over the game."

Team Spirit and Overcoming a Difficult Start

The coach concluded his remarks by pointing to the morale within the dressing room: "A strong mindset prevails across the group; the challenges we have faced since the start of the season have brought us closer and made us tighter, pushing us beyond our limits. We are regaining our balance step by step, and we must appreciate what we have achieved without losing our caution, while understanding the reasons behind this positive turnaround to maintain it and continue on the same path."
