France: Major Security Mobilization and Deployment of 70,000 Police and Gendarmes for "High-Risk Saturday"
French authorities are preparing for a new "high-risk" Saturday by deploying 70,000 police officers and gendarmes nationwide to maintain order and curb unrest.
- Mobilization of 70,000 police officers and gendarmes supported by 25 "Centaure" armored vehicles to confront potential riots.
- Detection of social media calls inciting violence, looting of shops, and blocking roads.
- Heightened security measures with strict instructions to deal firmly with any violations or unrest.
French authorities are bracing for another Saturday described as "high-risk" by preparing a massive security plan aimed at maintaining order and preventing potential violations, just days after the marches and demonstrations of Thursday, November 5 concluded.
Unprecedented Security Alert Across French Cities
On Friday, Laurent Nuñez announced the deployment of 70,000 police and gendarmerie personnel throughout France, noting that instructions issued to security forces emphasize dealing with "extreme firmness" against any attempts to break the law or cause chaos.
The exceptional security plan includes the mobilization of 110 mobile force units, supported by approximately 25 "Centaure" armored vehicles belonging to the National Gendarmerie, as part of full readiness to deter rioters and respond to any field escalation in the capital and major cities.
Fears of Targeting Stores and Paralyzing Traffic
These arrangements come amid official warnings of gatherings and protests that may lack identified organizers. Nuñez pointed out that extensive calls have been monitored on social media platforms targeting security forces, vandalizing public buildings and facilities, looting shops and stores, alongside concerns over attempts to block roads, obstruct traffic, and incite rebellion.
French authorities are sending a clear message to those engaging in acts of violence, affirming that they are "waiting for rioters with great resolve." Meanwhile, residents and community members are advised to exercise caution and avoid flashpoints and areas that could witness security clashes or disruptions to daily transport over the weekend.
